Fresh from the Fairways: February Edition
A note from the Centre Manager
Hello everyone,
To say it’s been a “wet” start to the year would be the understatement of the century. We’ve seen enough rain lately to make us consider trading our golf clubs for kayaks, and I know how frustrating the resulting course disruption has been.
I want to start by acknowledging our greenkeeping team. They have been nothing short of heroic, working in difficult conditions to protect our turf and manage the constant rain. Their dedication is the reason we still have a course to return to.
Most importantly, thank you for your patience. We know how much you’ve missed not being to get out on the course as often as you’d like, and we truly appreciate the support you’ve shown us while we’ve navigated these constant disruptions.
The Golf Season Is Loading…
The good news? There is light at the end of the tunnel. Spring is officially on the horizon, the ground is finally beginning to dry, and The Masters is just weeks away. Nothing signals a fresh start like the azaleas at Augusta and the return of longer, sunnier days.
Dust off the clubs – better weather is coming, and we can’t wait to see you back on the fairways.
Here’s what we’ll be covering in this edition of Fresh from the Fairways:
- Loyaltee® Golfer Survey 2026
- Head Greenkeeper’s Update
- Upcoming Events
- Promotions & Special Offers
- Clubhouse & Catering
- Team Update
- Community News
Have Your Say!
Putting aside the obvious weather-realted challenges, we’ve got big ambitions for 2026. We want this to be your best golf season yet, but we aren’t mind readers!

Head Greenkeeper's Update
I wanted to take a moment to address the recent course closures here at Duxbury Park. These decisions are never taken lightly, but they are essential measures taken to protect the integrity of the course during vulnerable conditions. Ultimately, protecting the turf now ensures a much higher standard of play and a more enjoyable experience for every golfer once the season is in full swing.
While the course has been quiet, our team has been incredibly busy with improvements. Here is what we have been working on:
- Greens Maintenance: We have completed aeration on all greens using the AIR2G2 system. This injects air deep into the soil profile to relieve compaction and improve drainage, all with minimal surface disruption.
- Bunker Renovations (8th & 9th Holes): We have dug out the bunkers on the 8th and 9th holes in preparation for improved drainage installation and fresh sand.
- 8th Hole Reshaping: We are particularly excited about the changes to the 8th hole. The greenside area is being reshaped and reduced to two bunkers. Furthermore, we are reshaping the green itself, which will allow for an exciting new pin position.
- Machinery Fleet: The entire fleet of course machinery is currently undergoing a full service to ensure we are operating at peak efficiency for the season ahead.
- Practice Area: We are pleased to announce that new practice nets have been ordered and will be arriving soon.
Thank you for your patience and continued support.

Clubhouse & Catering
Our hospitality team at Duxbury Park is thrilled to share some exciting enhancements we’ve made to improve your experience at the club.
Here is what is happening around the clubhouse:
- Clubhouse Refresh: You may notice a new look when you walk in – the clubhouse has been freshly redecorated.
- New Function Suite: We are putting the final touches on our newly refurbished function and party room. It will be ready to host your special events starting in March.
- A New Culinary Experience: We’re hard at work finalising a fresh, new 2026 Menu, featuring delicious new dishes coming your way soon.
We look forward to welcoming you back to enjoy these updates!

Conmunity News
Community Spirit Shines for Hunter!
We are thrilled to announce that our recent Bingo Night was an overwhelming success, raising over £825 for young Hunter and his family.
Hunter, a brave local youngster who has enjoyed golf lessons here at Duxbury, is currently facing a courageous battle with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Seeing the community come together to support one of our own reminds us what makes this place so special.
A massive thank you to everyone who attended, shouted “Bingo!”, and donated so generously. These funds will go directly toward supporting the family during Hunter’s treatment.
Team Update
We are thrilled to announce and celebrate our “Employee of the Quarter” nominations for the 2025/2026 period.
Please join us in congratulating Alan Hunter, Joe Wickstead, Tony Hill, and Daniel Jones for this well-deserved recognition.
